The "exponential pair" in the core Q6 really must have the Vbe matched. This pair can be part of the THAT340, SSM2210, LS319, LM394, Analog Devices MAT12, etc. The other pairs, Q7 doesn't necessarily have to be matched. I think that two unmatched NPNs should work fine. If you use a THAT340, it has a PNP in it which will become Q3. So, don't install Q3 if you use a THAT340. Q6 (conisdered the entire pair) must be in thermal/mechanical contact with Q3 and R13.
